“I always look forward to hearing about new developments and the commitment of the organization!”
Hello Katharina! Thanks for taking the time to answer some of our questions. Would you like to briefly introduce yourself?
My name is Katharina, I am 31 years old and a doctor in training as a gynecologist/obstetrician. I am currently on maternity leave with my little son.
What made you want to become a sponsor?
Throughout the course of my life, I had already often heard about the possibility and always thought it was a great idea, but had not really given it much consideration during my studies, where every dollar counts ;-) Then I met Pam from Let Doctors Fly and was inspired by her ideas and the project! It was only a short while before my husband and I “picked” a child to sponsor from the website. We have been providing support to Daniel since January 2014, helping him receive education, medical care, food and clothing.
Do you have any contact with Daniel?
So far, no. But I am not looking for gratitude. It is not of importance to me for him to know where the money is coming from. I do not want him to feel at any point that he owes something to someone. For that reason, I do not think it is necessary that I visit him, but I think it would definitely be an enriching experience for me personally! Perhaps somewhere down the line I will be able to provide my assistance as a doctor on a project. For the time being, my immediate family is my priority.
Have there been any moments as a sponsor that have stood out for you?
I am always happy to hear about new developments and the commitment of the organization! I am most excited when I receive information about Daniel and how his life has improved or recent photos.
What do you wish for Daniel with all your heart?
First and foremost for him to be healthy, a heart that is filled with sunshine and the opportunity toward self-fulfillment!
